Playing With Black And Gold

So yesterday I got to have a really good play while little Tilly-Mint  was napping and actually got two.. yes two cards finished. Now me and trends kinda get on like this, trend comes in for eg washi tape, triangles, gold and at first I really dislike them and I think to myself my on earth would I use them in my crafting?!?! Time passes and they grow on me and by the time that they are unfashionable ... I love them! I'm soooo off trend it's unbelievable but now I am completely obsessed with gold it's unreal.

On to my playing..... black and gold, I wouldn't have entertained using them a couple of months ago but I can't get enough of them together now... first card...

I was inspired by quite a few challenges while creating this one (Cas-ual Fridays- Stitching, Paper Smooches Sparks - sketch, Loves Rubberstamps- fall leaves and Craft Stamper- splatters).

I have used a few different mediums (cotton tread, washi tape, mica paint, silver and gold gilding flakes) and this could have took the card from being CAS into something that looked quite cluttered but as I kept everything in one focal point and used a white background I have achieved the look i was going for. Both of the stamp sets I used for this autumn themed 'thank you' are from Paper Smooches- Pretty Phrases and Leafy Greens.

My second card is a bit more 'busy' but still has a clean, crisp edge to it and a bit more masculine than my first card. That is another reason why I am loving black and gold at the minute - they are very usable for both male and female cards... cross-gender may be the word I'm searching for here ;)

This card kind of just came together by itself- I had some gold mica paint left on my hand from the last card and just splattered it on a spare piece of card that was at the side of me... well waste not want not ;) The Avery Elle set 'Knotty' was at the side of me so I used the stripes of that and stamped them diagonally in black ink. When I got just over halfway I didn't think it needed anymore and quite like the effect this gave me.

I added a sentiment from Wplus9 'Fanciful Feathers' ( I used Grateful as that is the challenge over at City Crafter) and used gold gilding flakes( my new weakness) on it. But then the top part looked a bit bear so I added some stamped arrows (avery Elle- Oh Happy Day) in grey.... it was nearly there....mmmmmm... it was missing something when I tried to layer in on to the base card. I then whipped out my gold paint pen, added a edge to the card and voila!!

Hoping to catch a trend before it goes out of fashion today so I'll catch you later!

Hugs, Lydia xxx
