On New Year's Eve I was thinking that this year I really need to get my act together. And so came up with a number of resolutions for this year

Learn to drive
Lose some of these extra pounds I'm carting around
Drink more water and less fizzy pop
Try to see the silver lining in things and just be happier.

I have scrapped them in a LO so maybe just maybe I will get somewhere with them - fingers crossed ..... here's my LO

my family and a little love card

Nothing for ages and then two posts in one day ..... it's been sooo nice to do some crafting though and now I can't stop.

I used the sketch from Frosted Designs for my monochromatic red LO- my journaling is about how me and Will are going to be able to spend more time as a family as he now has better working hours- Yay yay yay ....

On this LO I have used two really old pieces of red paper from my stash - one is plain and the other has darker red snow flakes on- and so I don't remember where I got them from .... I knew I kept them for a reason, haha. The ruffled ribbon is wired ribbon I had on my Christmas tree I pulled both of the wire edges to get this really ruffled effect (this is the first time I've tried it and I think it works well... even if I say so myself).
The candy stripe ribbon is from Rustic Charm Ribbons (and was a present from Santa) which I have attached to the page with 3 hat pins- I didn't have the right coloured heads so I covered them with scraps of red ribbon. The title I have written with a VersaMark pen then dusted with gold mica powder- the swirls have been done in the same way using a stamp from Basic Grey.

happy new year and and bit of 'joy'

Well a 'HAPPY NEW YEAR' to all of you lovely people out there !!!! I'm back- so what's happened since the last time I posted well.... we have moved house, Will changed his job (at first it was a shock - he was out of work for a week just before Christmas aarrrrgggh- but it's worked out as he works better hours and no Saturdays, yay), and we have also had the havoc of Christmas. But it's all settling down now and more importantly I can get to my craft table.

So on to my first project of the new year and surprise, surprise it's Christmas....

I used the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays and the colour palette from The Playdate Cafe.

I have used a mix of papers from MME and K&Co. I used a new toy I got for Christmas, a VersaMark pen, to write the title and used gold mica powder -another new toy- to dust over the top (the music sheet stamp in the background is from {ippity} and has been mica-ed also). The embelli's I have mostly made by hand.

sketchy thursdays gdt sketch

When I saw that Sketchy Thursdays was looking for a GDT memeber for November I thought I would have a go- they have a fab sketch to work with go check it out here.

Heres the sketch

And heres what I did

You had to write what you were thankful for - it looks like I'm thankful for me here, thats not what I put... I journaled about my family and how I was thankful for them making me, me!!!!

The pink polka dot background paper is from Grace Taylor- I love love love polka dots they are fabby fab they add interest but are rarely too 'in your face'. And then after the simpleness of the dots I went a little crazy - I've stamped, embossed, made flowers, added pre-made flowers, used rub-ons, perfect pearls, buttons, brads, twine and even a bit of cardboard. There are more then five leaves added there is a plastic one sitting under the rose on the heart, two under the felt rose, two leaf brads under the rose in the top right of the photo- oh and all the leaves on one of the backing strips.

Also there is a challenge going over at Scrapbookers Anonymous to use a die-cutting machine- so I dusted (I know a swear word in this house) down my Bigshot and cut a number of flowers, layered them up and glue on a button then added to my LO- quite liking it so my Bigshot may be able to stay out a little while longer.

forever thankful for you wall hanging

While my babies were sleeping (when I should have been doing the dusting) I made a wall hanging- well a fridge hanging as that is where it now resides- as soon as I saw the sketch over at Chick Challenges I knew this is what I had to make.

First I drew the shape onto a piece of scrap paper then drew around it on to a thick piece of cardboard from a box. Instead of doing a layer of paper as the circle on the sketch I decided to stitch it.I pierced the holes for the stitching and around the edge before I stamped the dragonflies from the {ippity} set 'Thankful for You' so I could get the position right. After stamping the dragonflies I then stitched the circle.

The sentiment is from the same set- I distress the edges of it for an aged look. The felt flower is from Perfectly Precocious and the rolled roses are made by yours truely (if you want to know how to make them there is a tutorial here).

three Unity cards

Good morning, good morning ..... I'll stop myself there, even though Tilly woke me up at quarter to six this morning, the sun is shining so I'm feeling good. Well yesterday I was in a card making mood and so I made three, all using Unity stamps that I had just recieved in the post - my winnings from the Unity challenge blog!!!! The prize was a bag of mixed stamps- they are all fab but these are some of my faves.

I am sooooo loving this new bike stamp I got from Unity its from the set 'Everyday Adorable' and it is that.... soooo cute.

For this card I used a piece of white card, a piece of brown ribbon, distress ink in 'walnut stain' , the bike stamp and the sentiment comes from the Unity KOTM Sept 20011. I think it's amazing how you can turn very little into something soooo cute - well that's crafting for you.

Another CAS card using the sketch from KOTM challenge - I think this lets you see how great the stamps are!! The stamps I used are both from KOTM Sept 2011.

My fave technique of the moment is distressing the edges of my paper using my craft knife and curling up the very edges with my fingers- with these stripes of paper I only put double sided tape right in the middle so I could get the maximum lift.

Pretty dull day yesterday but today is looking up I won over at Ippity Challenges last week and so today I'm gonna spend that voucher .... it may take me a while as they do such lovely stamps. I used core'dinations card in a very light peach for my base, the patterned papers I used are from the Gabrielle collection from BoBunny- these papers are soooo beautiful I think I need another pad of it so I don't feel guilty when I use a piece. I distressed the edges of all the papers by running my craft knife along the edges of the papers and then curling them over with my nails- I love this effect as it's distressed but doesn't need to go counselling. Before adding copious amounts of flowers I stamped the butterflies from the Unity set 'dream big' up the right hand side of the photo (you can just see them poking through the flowers).

The blue butterfly I cut from one of the Gabrielle papers, then I gave him a bling flight path... hehe he's soo cute (oh and as I cut his antener off I gave him some new one's).

I this photo the pink flowers are from Keiser Craft, the white felt one's from Prefectly Precocious, the blue one I made with my own fair hands and the same goes for the large white one that I made out of tumble dryer sheets and a pearl for the middle. oh and the other two are from my stash.

This huge pearl flower I made out of a necklace- I love a good bit old recycling.

A fun little christmas card for younger children.

The owl stamp is from the Stampin' Up set ' Punch Bunch' - it is a really versatile set and could be used for any occasion. The santa hat I cut from a patterned piece of scrap paper and then edged with some cotton wool for some texture.

I used the inspiration photo from Paper Smooches as the base for this act- the pink colour and the ruffle of ribbon.

The music note paper in the background is printed from the Cricut Imagine, I then inked it direct to paper to make it pink. I stamped over the background paper with the dragonflies from the {ippity} set 'Thankful for You', I just love these dragonflies and seem to use them on almost everything. The butterflies are from Unity , the 'Dream Big' Itty Bitty (another one of my faves)- I stamped them using walnut stain distress ink, I waited for them to dry and then painted them with pink liquid pearls so then would shimmer.

i was sooo happy this morning when my postie pushed a white padded envelope through the door- it was my order from Perfectly Precocious .... yay . The felt flowers from her etsy shop are beautiful and I love them, I couldn't wait to use them so I combined them with the sketch from Woodware.

i really think that i'll be keeping this card just to stare at - i really love it and it was sooo simple too. the sketch is from frosted designs . first i die cut a scalloped circle out of light pink card, i then glued the ribbon to it before attaching the flowers. i then stuck the circle to the card and tied the bow.

first off i stamped ippity dragonflies onto the base card, then inked the edges using the same black ink. i then masked off parts of the image using the sketch from unscripted sketches, again using the same ink i inked inbetween the masked off areas. i cut out i circle from black card and stuck it on. the heart is from a stampin up set and is stamped on to red card.

what a lovely day to craft- as the weather was rubbish ....

this is the first circle easel card i've made i thought it would be harder than it was but the workings are easy. i've stamped the base card as covering that shape in paper would have been a nightmare .... and how cute is this stamp i won it over at cupcake craft challenges - love it !!!!
