Don't you just hate it when at night you are falling asleep on the sofa just trying to keep you eyes open while you watch the end of your program before you head up the wooden hills to your bed.... only to find when you get all snuggled in your nice warm duvet that you are wide awake and then can't sleep? I know that you are nodding your head. Well this happened to me last night, and more annoyingly Will (the husband) did the 'I can't go to bed now, I won't sleep', rolled over and was catching z's before you could say .... I don't know but something really short like 'tea'. So after tossing and turning for about 45 mins I decided to get up and head to the craftroom, and I so glad I did as I made a really cool card (if I do say so myself ... I have also decided to see if I can make pentagon popular.. don't know if this is going to work yet but watch this space :) ).
I have used the Valentine Wishes from Wplus9, I know I use this set all the time but the sentiments are just too darn amazing not to use ;)....
Now instead of stamping the wreath in the colours I wanted to use I stamped it in a really really light green ink to I could go over it with my coloured pencils to add lots of different colours and shades to the otherwise solid stamped image. It adds more of a sketchy/artsy look to it I feel. The banner I have used Copics to shade and colour and I do have to admit that this BG11, BG32, BG15 have to be one of my favourite combo. I went with the current trend of adding my layer diagonally and sticking off the card.
Hope you like my very late night make and I'm actully really chuffed that it still looks ok in the daylight :)
Hugs Lydia xx

This card is beautiful! I really love your clever technique of stamping first in a light color then adding depth and dimension with your colored pencils. It made the wreath look a-ma-zing!! I also thought your coloring job with copics on the banner was quite brilliant. Nice off-the-center placement and stacking, too. I daresay that this creation was much more worthwhile than the sleep you lost! I really enjoyed both your witty write-up and the finished result. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog!
ReplyDeleteYour card is just gorgeous Lydia! Love the sentiment and banner and the way you've coloured it all. Love the placement too. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Bunny Zoe's Crafts.
ReplyDeleteOh that is so beautiful
ReplyDeleteHi Lydia, what a lovely card and different. The layout is special, but great in effect and the little 3D-flag gives a perfect finish.
